2001 Centenary of Federation: 3 Coin Uncirculated Set - A.C.T.

The ACT three Coin Sets contain coins uniquely representative of our Nation‘s Capital City.  The $1 Centenary of Federation logo coin (coloured in the proof version) identifies the sets as part of the official 2001 celebrations, while the 20c student-designed and 50c Coat of Arms coins are exclusive to the ACT.  On the 20c piece, Stacy Jo-Ann Paine from Caroline Chisholm High School in the ACT has produced a collage of symbols which identify the Territory. The ACT floral emblem, the Royal Bluebell, is represented near a bunch of Canberra Federation Roses which are the special ACT floral emblem for our Centenary Year.  An outline of the ACT map features on the left, while the flagpole of the Australian Parliament House, located in Canberra and the Federation Star below it express the ACT's link with all other Australian States and Territories, as symbols of our National Capital.  The 50c coin in both sets features the ACT Coat of Arms.  Supported by black and white swans symbolising Aboriginal and European races, the shield shows the mace of the Australian Parliament and the sword of justice above the 'capital' castle.  The Rose of York commemorates the contribution of the Duke of York (later King George VI) in opening the Commonwealth Parliament on 9 May l927.  Above the shield, a gum tree appears behind a crowned gate representing links with Westminster, the British seat of government.  Innovative packaging ideal for displaying the coins holds the unclrculated $1., 50c and 20c pieces.

14,714 uncirculated coins were issued in 3 coin sets.
