1998: $1 Fine Silver Frosted Uncirculated Kangaroo
1998: $1 Fine Silver Frosted Uncirculated Kangaroo.
Struck to impeccable Frosted Uncirculated quality from a troy ounce of .999 fine silver. 40mm diameter Australian legal tender coin.
This coin features the simple, yet powerful image of a Red Kangaroo in mid flight; the raised image of the kangaroo has a highly polished, mirror-like finish, surrounded by a frosted background.
The Red Kangaroo, the largest species of kangaroo, is found throughout the arid regions of Australia, in open grasslands, and commonly around sheep stations in the country's dry centre. They are nomads of the bush, travelling vast distances in search of food and water. The male Red Kangaroo is affectionately known as a "Big Red", due to it huge stature and wine-red coat; while "blue Flyer" refers to the blue-grey colouring of the female Red, and the speed and grace with which she moves at full flight.
